Is it ok to drink water from your tap or faucet if you have a water filter on it to purify the water?

or is it better to buy bottled water?

How many impurities do water filters remove and what’s a good kind of water filter to buy?

It’s better to use tap water if you have good water and add a filter to improve quality, taste, and smell. Plastic bottles are filling up landfills and take years to degrade. In addition, some plastics leak chemicals that disrupt normal hormone levels.

There are many different types of water filters. Personally, I like the brita pitcher with replaceable filters that you can easily change every few months. The tap water does taste and smell better. If you have a newer fridge it may have a GE water filter built in, those work well too, but may cost more and last longer. Check out the website below for more details on different types of water filters.

Brita uses activated carbon and is supposed to filter out impurities such as chlorine, lead, copper, mercury, giardia, and more. Now that I am accustom to using the filter I can definetly taste the difference immediately!

The water from the tap is totally safe even without a filter. Most bottled water is also tap water. It is a waste of money.

In most developed nations, including the US and Canada, water coming from any tap or faucet must, by law, be drinkable. The regulations for water purity are actually stricter on tap water than they are on bottled water so even without a water filter you’re better off drinking tap water.

Municipal water is safe to drink without filtration. However, if you feel the need, use an in home water filter. Bottled water isn’t more healthy for you – most of it is out of a tap in the first place and it is a total plague on the environment (all that worthless plastic).

As far as what kind of filter, it depends on your needs. My sister uses a Brita filter (she has well water, but old pipes). My cousin uses a PUR filter attached to the faucet. He even had his water checked and the PUR filter worked as well as more expensive stuff.

I just drink water from my tap as do my parents. Several years ago, there was a news report to check your water for lead because pipes soldered with lead, in some cases, were leaking lead into the water. I had the water analyzed for my parents and it was just fine. My sister’s was not. She can run the water a long time and clear it, but for just a drink of water, the Brita was good enough.

I personally tell everybody who lives in rental housing to get some kind of filtration unless they live in a brand new building because of the problem with the lead.

What a silly question, of course it is safe to drink. unless you live in the sticks and have untreated water. Flavor your water with kool aid, tang or any flavor additive. You`ll be apt to drink more and be healthier, also save money. Cheers!
