Monday, November 23rd, 2009

we have a ge side by side and i figured the filter was old and now it wont give any water.i un plugged the quick connect blue and white fitting bottom under door and have no presuser.i blew the line threw to the water outlet in door dispenser and its clear

Sounds to me like your solenoid is bad. Do make sure there is water to the back of the fridge from the wall valve..

Washing machine only fills with water sometimes?

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

I have a GE model wbxr1060t5aa washing machine and one day it would not fill with water. I took the hoses loose and checked for clogs and cleaned the little filter in the back. I then reconnected the hoses and tried the machine with nothing happening. The very next day I went to move the machine out to check the solenoid and valve, before I moved it I tried the machine and it worked. My question is what could cause it to fill with water only sometimes? Thanks

You obviously know something about stuff like this, then you know that intermittent problems are the most difficult to diagnose. But from what you’ve said I’d put my money on the solenoid/valve. I’ve had years of experience with solenoids under many different applications and know that they can become unreliable and work sometimes and sometimes not, valves too. If it’s not that then it’s either what controls the solenoid or the connection between the two. Good luck to ya.

does anyone know what could be wrong with my GE fridge #GSS201EPC CC?

my fridge has ice and water built in the door but although the ice maker works great the water does not work in the door i bought it about 6 yrs ago and always used water filters strange that i just noticed the water does’nt come out but if you take the line apart and press water it shoots out from the line, so the button works. the problem is in the line thats located in the door so between the connection at the door and where it comes out in the glass there is a blockage or an electrical part bad! HELP<HELP everything else works fine

I have the same problem with my GE fridge. There is a relay/solenoid behind the ice tray. First thing UNPLUG THE FRIDGE BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY ELECTRICAL WORK. Remove the (4 ) 1/4" head screws that holds the the panel. Behind it is the motor that turns the ice dispenser. There is also a plunger type relay that electrically by passes the water when the ice dispenser is selected or is in use. Replace this solenoid /relay to get it work properly

Does a GE Reverse Osmosis Filtration System GXRM10GBL filter out E Coli & Coliform?

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

we’re trying to figure this out because we have a boil water advisory, should we trust the water from the filtration system or not?

No. Even if you have an ultraviolet light source somewhere in the system, (that will help kill some of the bacteria) you’re better off boiling the water if under advisory. Most filtration systems don’t have filters small enough to catch coliform or e coli – Better safe than sorry and all that

Water Dispenser on Fridge quit working..?

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

I have a GE side by side fridge with a water and ice dispenser in the door.

Today, for no apparent reason, the water dispenser quit working.

All the fittings seem fine. The water to the fridge is turned on. I removed the water filter and tried the water dispenser and water wasn’t even coming out of where the filter is (actually, it sometimes came out a drop at a time).

It sounds like the pump is trying to pump water through.

My wife said she turned the freezer colder (6 out of 10, was at 5 out of 10). Other than that, nothing changed.

Any ideas?
The filter is about 1 week old. I even tried to use the platic piece that bypasses the filter. I don’t think the filter is the issue.

It sounds like the line is clogged. The refrigerator water lines are often white or clear. Pull out the refrigerator and see if you can determine if something is lodged in the line. If a determination can not be made, turn off the water (at the wall), take the water line off, and take it to a local hardware store. Someone there might be able to help you.

Good luck.

I have a GE refrigerator(disregard the question mark here)?

Monday, November 16th, 2009

I just replaced my smart water filter because i notice that the light turned orange on the replacement indicator located on the outside of the door. My question is. After replacing the new filter (and following all the proper procedures for reinstalling) and holding the reset pad for 3 seconds does the light now suppose to be green on the replacement indicator pad or is it just no light on there at all. Sorry i don’t remember from before. Thx
