A Look at the Pur FM-3700 Faucet Mount Water Filter

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

This is a overview of the Pur FM-3700 Chrome faucet mount water filter. I chose this over Brita and others because it offered the best filtering for the best price. There are other filters on the market with slightly better filtering, but they are far more expensive and have to be specially ordered, etc. There are cheaper ones as well (like the Brita) but these aren’t as effective at filtering out contaminants. This Pur (3 stage) filter is certified by the NSF to reduce 30 contaminants. It also greatly improves the taste to that equal or exceeding bottled water.

if you want to see the NSF data sheet on what contaminants are removed (and by how much), you can visit here: http://ep.yimg.com/ip/I/purstore_2062_6268003

pH of Water

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Starring my neighbors Alex and Brianna. . .

Filtered water is run through a PUR faucet filter.

Dr. Young’s web site : http://www.phmiracleliving.com/

It looks like he offers faucet filters that up pH. I’m thinking of trying one and adding sodium bicarbonate in the mean time.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saliva

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061024184347AA0UFS2

When healthy, the pH of blood is 7.4, the pH of spinal fluid is 7.4, and the pH of saliva is 7.4. Thus the pH of saliva parallels the extra cellular fluid…pH test of saliva represents the most consistent and most definitive physical sign of the ionic calcium deficiency syndrome…The pH of the non-deficient and healthy person is in the 7.5 (dark blue) to 7.1 (blue) slightly alkaline range. The range from 6.5 (blue-green) which is weakly acidic to 4.5 (light yellow) which is strongly acidic represents states from mildly deficient to strongly deficient, respectively. Most children are dark blue, a pH of 7.5. Over half of adults are green-yellow, a pH of 6.5 or lower, reflecting the calcium deficiency of aging and lifestyle defects. Cancer patients are usually a bright yellow, a pH of 4.5, especially when terminal.” The Calcium Factor: The Scientific Secret of Health and Youth, by Robert R. Barefoot and Carl J. Reich, M.D., Gilliland Printing Inc., Arkansas City, Kansas, 1996.

http://www.alkalizeforhealth.net/salivaphtest.htm

To be too acidic in the body can have far reaching consequences. For example, if the blood becomes too acidic the body will balance the pH at all costs. This can lead to common symptoms which include but are not limited to heart burn, acid reflux, indigestion, weight gain, difficulty losing weight, poor metabolism, mineral deficiencies, constipation, fatigue, brain fog, frequent urination, hormonal imbalances, sore muscles and the list goes on.

Similar problems may occur if we become too alkaline, though this is much less likely. Obviously, maintaining the proper pH in the blood, digestive tract, tissues and fluids is essential in supporting optimal health.

After connecting the diverter to my faucet from my countertop filter, water is leaking from the connection.?

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

After connecting the diverter to my faucet from my countertop filter, water is leaking from the connection. How to I solve the problem?

Water can leak from the top of the diverter if you forget to put the black washer into the diverter before you connect it to your faucet (after you’ve removed the aerator). A black washer is supplied with all countertop filters. You should also use Teflon tape on the threads before installing the diverter if you still have a leak. For more advice visit Isopurewater.com

Best water filters have these 6 features

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

http://www.wholehousewaterfilternow.com
What are the features of the Healthy Home Solution whole house water filter and conditioning system?

The features included in our water filter are many but there are six primary features to this product.
1) Health We want to remove all the chemicals, odors, and physical things from your entire living environment. And thereby provide home wellness for you and your family.
2)Taste and Quality We want Great quality water coming from every faucet for drinking, cooking, coffee making. We want it to be in every case possible to be as good as or better than the bottled waters out there.
3)Environmental Aspects This product has been designed to be completely GREEN. We do not add any chemicals to the eco-system. The product is energy efficient with regards to both electricity and water usage. It is a very efficient product.
4)Hard Water Issues We can toss out the old traditional water softeners that add the sodium and chlorine to our environment and are being banned all over many communities across the United States. Use technologies that will reduce the hard water in your house without the slippery or slimy feel and the addition of salt or chemicals.
5)Economics This system will save you money in the long term because not only will it protect the assets of the appliances and plumbing in your house but it will greatly reduce if not eliminate your reliance on bottled water. And cost just pennies per gallon for the water that you would use in an unlimited manner in your home.
6)Convenience This is a set it and forget it system. There are no under counter filters to change. No ongoing maintenance costs on a regular basis. No cartridges going into the eco-system or landfills. It is a product you install and you address and give it attention somewhere in the 5 to 10 year range.

Those are the features and benefits that make the Healthy Home Solution water filtration system far superior to anything else we see on the market today.
