Is there an alternative to those pricey GE filters for my GE reverse osmosis water filtration system?

You don’t have to buy the GE brand. There are different choices and prices available on-line. However, don’t go super cheap. Not all RO filters are made alike. There are definitely inferior products on the market.

To check the effectiveness of your RO filter, you might want to install a TDS Monitor like this:

It also helps to determine when it is time to change the filter.

I suggest you stick with a brand name like GE or Watts, etc, but look for a vendor with the best deal. Making sure your water is clean is important.

A whore house water filter?? what for???

A whore house water filter?? what for???

We have really bad iron water and have a filter system but it doesn’t work very well typically we buy bottled water to cook with and drink but with the economy the way it is we are looking to cut back so has anyone tried boiling iron water to maybe help with the iron taste….to use it for tea and cool aid and such we change the filers regularly but still doesn’t help it smells horrible and you can see the iron in it and my wife refuses to use it for tea or cool aid because you can taste the iron in it any tips?

Boiling water using bricks made from a kind of yellow clay helps, and adds the water with minerals too. Another method is to boil the water using coal from bamboo.
