The GE Water Filter

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

There are quite a few different companies that offer water filters, but the GE water filter is definitely one of the most popular of all. If you want clean, healthy drinking water, better tasting and smelling water, brighter and softer laundry, reduced soap scum, smoother water, and filtered water throughout your house, then a GE water filter is going to be an ideal option for you.

The GE water filter systems make it easy to enjoy healthy and better tasting water for drinking and cooking. You can reduce a variety of contaminants from your family`s drinking water, including pesticides, solvents, cleaners, gasoline, lead, mercury, metal contaminants, bad taste and small caused by chlorine, and cloudiness and discoloration caused by sediment and rust.

Choosing a Water Filtration System

The most popular types of drinking water filtration are reverse osmosis, dual stone, and single stone. The reverse osmosis systems combine a semi-permeable membrane with two high volume carbon filters which in turn help to reduce up to 99% of contaminants from your drinking water.

The dual stone is the most popular GE water filter system, which uses two high volume carbon filters to improve quality and which works with a wide variety of filter types. Finally the single stage type of drinking water filtration is best for smaller families, homes that use low volumes of water and these systems use one high volume carbon filter in order to reduce overall drinking water impurities. The single stage systems work with most filter types so whether you are concerned with unhealthy elements in your drinking water or are simple looking to improve its overall taste and odor, you can select the specific filter that is going to best fit your needs.

In order to choose the right GE water filter for you, you need to consider the number of people living in your home and how much water is used in the home on a regular basis. This will help you to determine what type of water filter you should choose and what size is going to be most ideal.

Whichever water filter you choose, it is important that you check the filter frequently and replace whenever necessary in order to ensure that you are always getting only the best quality water possible. You can visit a GE branch or contact a customer service representative over the phone or Internet to get more advice on which specific water filter you should go with for your home.

The Faucet Water Filter System

water filters

For a constant supply of fresh, clean water you might consider purchasing a water filter that attaches onto your kitchen faucet.  You can use your filtered water for making beverages or ice cubes or simply to drink safe water. According to Health magazine drinking contaminated tap water causes about 7 million Americans to become ill on a yearly basis. Good Housekeeping and other sources claim that inexpensive faucet water filters do a good job of removing impurities form you tap water.  If your tap water has a bit of a foul taste to it the faucet water filter does an excellent job at removing these unwanted tastes.

Faucet Water Filter System Compared to Bottled Water

Typically, receiving filtered clean water from a faucet filter is less expensive than purchasing the same amount of bottled water. Surprisingly, a lot of the latest research contends that most bottled water is not healthier for you and your family than the basic water from the taps in your house. The FDA sets standards for bottled water however, the standards only apply if the bottled water is transported and sold outside the state where it was bottled. The FDA only asks the bottled water companies to ensure that the bottled water is at the same quality of tap water. If you want to make sure the water you and your family drink is free from most contaminants you might really want to consider purchasing a water filtration system, such as the type that easily attaches to your faucet.

Specifics Concerning Faucet Water Filter Systems

Most of these systems have a lever attached to the unit so you can choose filtered water for drinking purposes or just basic tap water. The units are very affordable and don’t cost that much more than a filtered water pitcher and most brands are simple to install onto your faucet. The filters usually have to be thrown away and replaced with a new one about every three months. The filters typically cost about $15 and they usually produce approximately 100 gallons of filtered water. With some expensive faucet water filter units you never replace the filter. Some brands offer a light that changes colors to indicate that you will need to change your filter in a certain period of time, such as two weeks.

An annual county water quality report is required to be available to people in any county in America and so you can check what the experts say about the quality of your water. The EPA website also offers information about the water quality in your area. Considering the health improvements, the taste of filtered water compared to typical tap water and the savings you will achieve by not buying bottle water, purchasing a faucet water filter unit for your home might be a very good idea.

Can I install reverse osmosis water filter without using faucet comes with it?

Can I install reverse osmosis water filter without using faucet comes with it?

I want to get a RO filter for my ice maker. I do want want to dig a hole on my countertop or the sink (or using any existing holes). Is it possible to connect the "tubing to faucet" directly to the ice maker faucet? I only want to use drink water from the ice maker faucet.

Is this possible? Did anyone have experience with this?

Thanks.

Yes this can be done. I do this on a regular basis. Be sure to use plastic tubing from the R/O unit to the ice maker. R/O water is very aggressive to copper.

When do I need a water softener /sediment filter combination?

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Always with well water or in most rural areas. I would put a sediment filter on any water softener to make it last longer.

If your water is too hard put in the best you can find, it’ll pay for itself.

how to remove iron and manganese in drinking water?

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

are there companies with the technology to remove iron and manganese in water. enough to filter water at a rate of around 60liters per second(lps). will appreciate information on the possible cost and the technical specifications of the system.

The Maxi-Cure 125 Series is designed for the customer who prefers a no maintenance whole house water filter that does not require salt or chemicals to be added to the water or is the perfect choice for areas that have banned sodium based water softener discharge. The Maxi-Cure-125 high flow iron filter water conditioners are used to remove iron (red/brown stains), manganese (grey/black stains), and hydrogen sulfide gas (rotten egg odor) as well as provide hard water scale prevention. Requires no salt or chemicals!

The Maxi-Cure-125 Series are self-backwashing well water treatment systems that automatically clean it’s filtration bed. This is accomplished with the electronic control valve that is mounted on top of the Maxi-Cure-125. This valve is controlled by a timer, that on a regular interval, initiates the backwash cycle that cleans the bed of filtration media and resets it for the next period of filtration. Our Maxi-Cure includes the Fleck 7000 Digital Control Valve to provide quick setup and programming. Nearly All Of Our Competitors Still Offer An Older Mechanical (dial) Version Of This New Modernized Control Valve.

Look at the source for technical info and pricing.
